J.W. Mcarthur, Realtor is a family owned real estate business. Johnny McArthur, our senior broker and father, received his real estate license and opened his real estate office in hattiesburg in 1960, J.W. McaAthur, Realtor. He practiced general real estate specializing in farm and timberland sales and the sale of residential homes. Married to the late Nevie Ethridge McArthur, they had three children: Walt, Barry and Lia. Walt, who joined the business in 1977 currently manages the property management office. Barry, who joined the business in 1978 manages the sales office.
After joining the business in 1978, Barry started out handling the property management part of the business and having little time for sales. Soon after that they started developing property in the city and building homes. Walt and Barry got involved in selling homes which gave me time to start selling land. Being an outdoorsman and having a love for all gods creations, the land sales became Barry's specialty. Learning from his father to have a high respect for people, land, and all our god given natural resources, helping clients with their land sales and purchases became and still is Barry's passion.
Barry was blessed with a wonderful wife, Dr. Peggy McArthur and together they have five children and four grand daughters. Barry and his wife live on a farm in Covington Co., just out from Sumrall, MS.
